Beauty School Mess up

I have not had time to take myself for a proper cut and color. When I find a good stylist they move to Vegas, the next one has a baby and quits. So I have been in hair limbo for the last 3 months. Needless to say that the grey was taking over and I have brown hair with grey highlights. Something that is not attractive. So out of desperation and the desire to not have to try yet another favorite of someone else I thought that I would check out the local beauty school. My rationale was that there had to be someone there that knew what they were doing - YEAH RIGHT!

I started at 10am and by 2:30 pm I am still not done. I was tired, I needed something to eat and I had had enough of these "Students" to last me a very long time. I raced out to my car thinking that it might not be as bad as it looked in the fake light, but it was! I had Platinum hair and black back hair. I was a skunk. The kids got home from school and Drama Queen in her oh-so-not-shy-about-telling-you-what-she-thinks voice says, "Mom, what did you do to your hair - you look like Cruella DeVil!" (I have been corrected, it was the man that started the Cruella thing - like that makes it any better.)

***************

I called them in a not so nice voice and said that this must be fixed. Problem: I was leaving town, the soonest I could go back in to get my hair fixed (ha ha) was Thursday. That meant that I had to look like a freak for an entire week.

Finally the day arrives, this is the before I got it fixed hair picture, it looks like straw and felt like it too. See the straw and the black back. (It is so hard to take pictures of yourself).

I go in and immediately find the instructor whom I had dealt with on the phone. She gives me to a very nice girl and I am hopeful. We talk and talk about what I want to look like. I even point at fellow students that have the "Natural" looking blonde high-lights that I was looking for. Thinking that we are all set, we begin. Color is placed on my hair, foils are layered and layered and I am starting to get excited that my freakish days will be over. Timer dings, instructor says to rinse, toweled dry, blower begins and the new color is revealed.........

Ta daaaaaa, the new me....?

Can anyone see a difference?

Me either, but there is.

I am now Strawberry blonde not Platinum.

So to thank all those wonderful students at the local beauty school for having so much fun making me look freaky and for helping me decide that I will be Cruella DeVil for Halloween, the following song is for you.

Oh Sweet Jesus, no they didn't! I'm so sorry. You need to fly to NC to see my little gal (I'm not playing either). She's so good and only charges me $20 for a cut and style, and it looks good. We've got to get this fixed. You however, despite what your hair looks like will always be gorgeous!

LOL!!!! Oh my goodness, that was a good post. Only terrible sad that you had to go through it. You just look like you're really in style though. Maybe next time you should go to the beauty college? That's just a suggestion thouhg. I LOVED the part about being Cruella for Halloween. You are a total crack up. And for the record, you look great.

Umm. Are those the same pictures? Cause I don't see a difference.

I have a great hair girl-- She's in Bountiful at Renew Day Spa. Harmony. She is a miracle worker...Seriously. You will not be disappointed. Tell her I sent you. She reads my blog.

I am in Utah. Where is your Pediatrician?

As a reward for their attention, you could bring the students a big tray of brownies laced with E-Lax.

T, I am so sorry, but I'm laughing. One day, you will too, right? What the H were they thinking making the bottom black? To me, that's kind of a skanky 20-something look. Or sknunky 20-something look.

Aubrey said...

Oh YEAH!!!! Do the brownies like trooper says!!! That would be too good--at least, it was funny on That 70s Show.

You guys are great and I do make a mean pan of brownies.

Good idea Trooper Thorn, so who are you? My first time having a man comment and I think it is cool.

A- Thanks, skanky is one that has not come up but I think I will take Skunky instead. I think the man will wig on Skanky.

Caro- How I wish I could come for some weekend fun and to get myself looking like me again. Someday maybe....

E-Thanks for your kind words but I do look freaky. If only it were October.

Motherboard- So do I get a number for Harmony??? Please????

You may think this looks freaky, but I know people who pay good money for a style just like this one. ;)

I really like it. I had my hair like that once. Its cool and fashion forward.
But I hate going to those student places, to me its not worth it.

Thanks for visiting my blog.
I love to meet new people & make new friends.
So where at in Utah do you live if you don't mind me asking?

I don't see a difference. I think you should get your money back for both times! They should pay you for all of the hassle. I love the brownie idea!! I think you should do it.

Wow! Here's what I do not understand...if someone wants to become a Mortgage Broker - and deal with people's money, their lives - they have to take about 92 hrs of classes. However -- if they want to do hair - which will grow back - they have to take about 2000 hrs!!! I ask you, does this make any sense? Of course not! And yet, here, in your blog, is picture-proof of why this must be...what is this world coming to???

Thanks for stopping by my blog, by the way. hope to see you again. I have added you to my Friends on the Blog list...hope that's ok! I plan to visit again!

LOL nice touch with the song!

I don't see a difference either; I wonder what the girl was thinking when she "fixed" your hair.

Oh, no. That post brings back horrible memories of similar experiences I had. Except the student was my sister, so it was easy for my to complain, burst into tears, whatever I needed to do. I hope the new and improved hair-do is working out for you!

Thanks for stopping by the other day! I am from Utah and Idaho too - Provo and Boise! I had a really bad beauty school experience a few years ago. This girl was cutting my hair and it started past my shoulders and she couldn't get it to be even on both sides and it got shorter and shorter and by the time it reached the middle of my neck I was like, okay, let's get your instructor. Now I only go to them for pedis!

I love it! The post that is. The hair...Well, it will be Halloween soon :)

I've always considered going to a school to get my hair done because I'm so cheap. But I rarely get it done and I always forget when it comes time to make the appointment (I go about three times a year...). I think you've cured me of that desire though.

Thanks for submitting your post to BPOTW!

Who knows, maybe the "Cruella" will be the hot new hairstyle in town. You'll be known as a trendsetter!

What a great post! I laughed most of the way through this..sorry I know this must have been a terrible experience for you...I would have freaked out if they messed my hair up..guess that is why I get my mom to do my hair..I just do not trust to many people with my hair..it is long and I like it that way...Hope your hair is all better now, if it is not..at least you have a beautiful face..maybe people will not notice your hair a much... :)BTW I am going to be singing that song all day now...lol..

I once got a perm at the local beauty school. It was life-changing. Never ever again. And am I loopy? But I like your hair.
